Wellington : New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan suffered a huge scare after being struck on the face during the first ODI against Pakistan in Wellington. The left arm quickie was struck on the left eye by a rising delivery from Pakistani pacer Anwar Ali. McClenaghan was batting on 31 from 17 deliveries.
Although McCleneghan made it back to his feet, the severe bruising in his left eye was quite distinctive. It means he will miss the second ODI in Napier on Thursday and almost certainly sit out the third ODI in Auckland on Sunday. McClenaghan told social media he suffered broken bones in his face after he was struck by an Anwar Ali delivery. He did not bowl in Pakistani innings, spending most of it in hospital instead.
