Nepal Vs New Zealand Match Preview

Kathmandu: Nepal are all set to start their U-19 ICC Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh . Nepal will play their first game against New Zealand tomorrow at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Nepal have a proud history for an Associate team in the U-19 World Cup having stunned Test giants Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand in the past. But they head into the tournament as team without star performers capable of replicating the past successes.

It is a good opportunity for Nepal to prove its worth for making it to the finals for the seventh occasion. Nepal has already played the youth world cup six times in the past. Nepal missed out on 2010 and 2014 edition after failing to deliver their best in the regional tournaments.
Nepal are set to play Ireland at the same venue on January 30 before heading to Mirpur where they will meet the cricketing giant India at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on February 1.

One of the reasons behind the claim that Nepal will produce better results is that the pitch condition of Nepal and Bangladesh are somehow similar and favorable for the Nepali team. According to Coach Tamata, the wicket is slow (with turning track) in Bangladesh. This is the seventh time that Nepal are contesting the U-19 Cricket World Cup, which is held every two years.

Chris Gayle Equals The World Record Of Fastest Fifty

Melbourne : Chris Gayle Equals The Record Of Yuvraj Singh (England in Durban in 2007) For Scoring The Fastest Half Century In Just 12 Balls In A T20 Format. Gayle was opening the batting for the Melbourne Renegades in their pivotal match with the Adelaide Strikers in Melbourne, with the hosts needing to chase down their opponents' total of 170 in just 16 overs to achieve the run rate required for a place in the tournament finals.

The assault continued in the third over, Gayle taking 22 from Ben Laughlin to take himself to 44 from 11 deliveries. The first ball of the third over was the moment when Gayle hit Travis Head for his seventh six of the innings and completed his half-century in just 12 balls. This terrific feat today equalized the epic Yuvraj Singh knock from the 2007 T20 World Cup against England.

Gayle has amassed an unparalleled 8,623 runs from 233 Twenty20 matches at an average in excess of 43 and a strike rate approaching 150.

The left-hander was out a short time later for 56 from 17, Travis Head claiming his third wicket to put his side in a strong position in the contest. Gayle is representing his third Australian domestic T20 side, having enjoyed stints with Western Australia and the Sydney Thunder before signing with the Renegades. Watch video Here :

Exclusive Interview With Subash Khakurel

Kathmandu : Subash Prasad Khakurel (born 7 April 1993) is a Nepali cricketer Who debut for Nepal against Hong Kong in December 2011. Subash is a right handed opening batsman and a wicket keeper.Subash Khakurel became the fourth Nepalese cricketer to score an international century, when he slammed 115 off 142 balls against United State of America during the ICC World Cricket League Division Four in September 2012. He represents the APF Club of the National League, Kantipur Gurkhas of the Nepal Premier League and Sudur Pashchimanchal Academy, which plays in the SPA Cup. Here An Exclusive Interview With Subash Khakurel

1. How is your daily life going on?

Life going normally like others, In free time, I spend my days normally, hanging around with friends, staying with family at home. In the morning I am at Cricket academy for teaching and three hours in the day I am busy for my own training.

2. We are proud of our national cricket team because of you and your colleague. Tell us about your experience with the children in the academy? Do they see future in the cricket?

Listen I fell awesome whenever I am with the kids in the academy. They are positive about the cricket and their career in this field. They ask me enthusiastically about my experiences in the games .These are supportive things for us and of course for the nation .In the age of eight or nine, they could spend their time simply staying at home; however, they come for their training in early morning.

3. As we know consistency always has been a main factor for the success of cricket. Nepal played well in the world cup but failed to qualify in the consecutive year. You have been a member of national team. What are the causes beyond that?

Players were the main cause. Nepal could have qualified in the world cup if we’d played well. However it is not possible to continue the performance with limited resources, facilities over the years. We are not expecting anything from Cricket Association of Nepal and the Government of Nepal.
Although this time we are not in the world cup, better performance in the first match with the limited resources indicated that we have great future of cricket. And it is in the hands of government, CAN, media and the corporate house.

4. Besides the cricket, what you think about politics?

Well, politics!! Everything’s in the nation are directly or indirectly related to the politics. It is a major factor. Unfortunately, I could not fathom why is our nation always in a bad situation? I am not sure but it may be due to the political system or political leaders.

5. I do agree with your statement. However, they are selected from the election. Nepalese people voted them. Voters are also responsible for this. Are not they?

Definitely we have voted them but they made us fool. We could have voted others only if we had options.

6. Who is your favorite political leader?

No one

7. Suppose I am interviewing a prime minister of Nepal for a while. What would be your answer towards this situation?

It is impossible but I would say something. If I were a prime minister of Nepal my focus will be on country rather on me.

This interview was taken by Subash Adhikari at kalika fm.
