Nepal U-19 to play practice matches against Afghanistan

Kathmandu : Nepal U 19 cricket team, which is in India to prepare for the ICC U-19 World Cup, is set to play two practice matches against Afghanistan U 19 . As per the press release issued by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Thursday, Nepal will play the practice matches against Afghanistan on January 11 and 13 at Vijay Dahiya Academy in Delhi.

Afghanistan is also preparing for the youth world cup slated for January 22 to February 14. Nepali Full squad : Raju Rijal. Indian schoolboy scores record 1,009 runs first time in cricket



Kathmandu : Mumbai school cricketer Pranav Dhanawade became the first player to score 1000 runs in a single innings during the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament organized by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), yesterday. 

Opening the batting for Smt KC Gandhi School, Kalyan, Pranav scored 1009 not out off just 323 balls against Arya Gurukul school. The Kalyan boy wreaked havoc as he smashed 129 fours and 59 sixes en route the world record at the Union Cricket Club ground. All the figures are a world record in competitive cricket. His school declared the innings at 1465/3 with Parnav unbeaten at 1009 which he scored of 323 balls and at a strike-rate of 312.38. He played for a total of 395 minutes. 

Dhanawade, the son of an auto rickshaw driver, had broken the record for the highest individual score in any class of cricket yesterday when he reached 652 not out. The record was earlier held by Arthur Collins, who had scored 628 not out in a Junior House Match in June, 1899 in England.

He Father said  “I want my son to become a great cricketer. He has proved that he has the talent today. Cricket is not an easy sport and expensive too. I spent extra hours driving an autorickshaw in order to afford the cricket gear for my son,” 

Earlier, Pranav said he was motivated to break the records set by the Sarfaraz, Armaan and Prithvi and was confident that he will reach the 1,000-run mark. At the end, he did. "I am confident that I can do it. I will definitely try to score 1,000 runs as I am just 350 away. If I can score 600 runs in two sessions, I am confident of scoring 350 in one session," he added.

India Vs Afghanistan (SAFF FINAL)

KATHANDU: Host India and defending champions Afghanistan are vying for the trophy of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship at Trivandrum, the Indian state of Kerala, at 6:45 pm on Sunday evening.

India made it to the final with a 3-2 defeat of Maldives while Afghanistan trounced Sri Lanka 5-0 on the way to the last match of the tournament.

India has so far lifted the trophy six times while Afghanistan brought the trophy home defeating India 2-0 two years ago. Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan failed to go to the knockout stage of the tournament. RSS

Archana Paneru Goes To Kathmandu After Locals Chased Her Away

Kathmandu : The controversial Queen model, Archana Paneru and her family have fled their home after being chased away by the Mahendranagar, Bhasi locals accusing of spreading vulgarity. Archana and Sunita haven’t told what their plan is. Will Archana Paneru Come back to her home?

According to Close Source, the women had gathered at 8 AM on December 13, 2015 and encircled the house till 11 0 cl0ck. The locals had complained that the mother daughter have given the bad name to the place. One of the protesters, Suman Devi Shah, said that being a resident of Bhasi has been difficult after Sunita Paneru  and Archana Paneru started sharing their photos in Social media. She also claims that the children in the area are also being harassed by their friends in school.

Archana’s father also told that he is saddened by his wife and daughter. The mother, Sunita Paneru, wasn’t apologetic and told that she would do anything to help her daughter achieve her dreams. Bangladesh defeat Nepal to Win AFC U-14 Girls’ Championship

Kathmandu : Bangladesh U-14 has won the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship final defeating Nepal 1-0 at Nepali Army Sports Centre in Lagankhel. that was postponed following the devastating earthquake on April 25.
Marji Sopana of Bangaldesh U-14 scored the only goal of the match in the first half of the 16th minute, to take home the title.
Prime Minister KP Oli attended the programme as the chief guest. PM Oli will be distributing prizes to the winners and the runner ups at the venue.
Nepal and Bangladesh had defeated India and Iran respectively to fix their spots on the final. The final was scheduled for a 2:00pm kick off at the Dashrath Stadium on April 25 before it had to be called off due to the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck at 11:56am.

Nepal face New Zealand in first match of U-19 World cup



Kathmandu : Nepal will prepare for their ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh with official warm-up matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, schedule announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday .

Nepal, which is in Group D along with New Zealand and three time champions Australia and India, will take on New Zealand in its opener of the ICC U-19 World Cup to be hosted by Bangladesh. Nepal will open their ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup campaign with a match against New Zealand at Fatullah, Bangladesh on January 28.

The tournament will begin on January 27 with 16 teams 10 Test playing nations and six Associate and Affiliate Member sides Nepal, Afghanistan, Canada, Fiji, Namibia, and Scotland vying for the youth World Cup title in Bangladesh.

The six qualifiers joined the 10 Test playing nations in the World Cup through regional and global qualifying tournament.

Nepal, who had qualified for five consecutive editions from 2000-2008 and in 2012, failed to make it to the Finals in 2010 and 2014. Nepal had entered the Super League round in 2000 edition in New Zealand and won the Plate Championship beating the Black Caps in 2006 in Sri Lanka.

Last interview of Pubudu Dassanayake before his departure


Kathmandu : Having scripted glorious days of Nepali cricket in the last four years, Pubudu Dassanayake has left for His country Canada quitting as the Nepali national team coach.
Before going Dassanayake said Nepal cricket had the potential to become the next full member of International Cricket Council (ICC) . “Nepal has a better chance than others to become ICC’s full member.
There are lots of question marks and lot of things to be done for that. If you are able to put right things in right place, you are there in Ten years’ time,” he added. He led the team for the one last time in the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCL) matches against PNG in the UAE last week.

12 Amazing Record of Mehbood alam

Kathmandu : It’s in the Guiness Book of World Records. Left arm medium pacer Mehboob Alam has the world record of single handedly bowling out an opponent doing the honour by picking up 10 wickets against Mozambique. The match was contested as part of the 2008 ICC World Cricket League Division five competition.

Following Mehboob’s unbelievable performance, Mozambique were bowled out for just 19 runs in 14.5 overs after Nepal had made 238-7 in 50 overs. Nine of Mozambique batsmen failed to open their account.

The accomplishment has only happened professionally in two other instances, both in Test cricket once each by Jim Laker (england) and Anil Kumble (India).

Kaluwitharana Next Coach of Nepali Cricket ??


Kathmandu : According to Soucre Romesh Kaluwitharana currently U 19 Coach of Sri lanka Could be Next Coach of Nepal . If it is True than He Would be 3rd Sri lankan Coach of  Nepal.
Romesh Kaluwitharana, born on November 24, 1969, was a wicketkeeper batsman who represented Sri Lanka in the 1990s and the early 2000s. He played 49 Tests, 189 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and is best remembered for his destructive opening partnerships with Sanath Jayasuriya.


He coached Colts CC while conducting a career as an insurance executive. He was appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket to be a member of the 2006 ACC Committee to Evaluate China, and in 2008 took temporary charge of Malaysia. Kaluwitharana lost his father at the age of five and was raised by his mother.

Papua New Guinea defeat Nepal by 3 wickets Again

Kathmandu : Nepal went down by 2 wickets to lose its second match of the ICC World Cricket League Championship played in Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. Nepal had posted a target of 225 runs at the match played in Abu Dhabi.
Electing to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal made disastrous start losing both openers Anil Mandal and Subash Khakurel at zero run.

But then, Sagar pun (47), Gyanendra Mall (36), Paras Khadka and blitzing performance by Sharad Vesawkar lifted Nepal to a commendable score. Vesawkar made 42 runs off 45 ball smashing one four. PNG chased down a modest 225 run target set by Nepal with 2 balls to spare.

Earlier, Nepal lost to PNG by two wickets in the first match played on Monday.


Although Nepal has already played Four matches, it is still winless in the championship being played by eight teams in round robin format. The top six teams will get chances to play qualifiers for the 2019 ICC World Cup.

The match starts at 11:15 Am at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi in UAE. Earlier, Nepal faced thrilling two wicket defeat against PNG in the first leg of the second round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship On Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Before the championship, Nepal played four matches, three 50 overs and a two day match.

Netherlands stands at first position with six points, while Scotland is in second position, followed by Kenya, which secures third position. All teams will play two matches against every team and the top six teams will play the 2019 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
