Nepal win U-19 Saff Championship



Kathmandu | Nepal U 19 Team defeated India in a penalty shootout by 5-4 to lift the first SAFF U-19 Championship title at the ANFA Complex Satdobato on Saturday.


The winner of the U-19 championship had to be decided through the penalties after the end of full time in a 1-1 stalemate. Nepal's Ananta Tamang netted the decisive and last penalty while Nepal's keeper Sojit Gurung blocked India's first penalty strike from its player Mohamuddin.


This was Nepal’s first ever trophy in the age-group tournaments and first by any nepali football team in 22 years. Nepal’s national football team had won the South Asian Games in 1993 by beating india in a penalty shootout.it was the first south Asian U-19 championship held in Nepal. Congratulations U-19 football team to victory over India.
