Michael Clarke’s invite Sandeep Lamichhane play for his academy

Kathmandu : Sandeep Lamichhane, who has made his name in national cricket with his mesmerising leg-spin bowling, is likely to get a wonderful international exposure in Australia if former Australian captain Michael Clarke’s invite to play for his academy materialises.

“He (Clarke) offered me to play for his academy and inquired about [my] free time to tour Australia,” said Lamichhane. “I have informed [him] that I will be available in September,” added Lamichhane, referring to Nepal’s next outing in July 13 and 15, when they tour the Netherlands for the ICC World Cricket League Division Championship matches.

The 16-year-old recently played alongside Clarke in the Hong Kong Blitz Twenty20 cricket tournament for Kowloon Cantons, a three-day event played on May 27-29. Impressed with the bowling skills of the Nepali teenager, Clarke has offered Lamichhane a chance to play for his academy team—Michael Clarke Cricket Academy—in Sydney.

“It would be a great opportunity for me,” said Lamichhane. According to the leg-spinner, Clarke will himself make all necessary arrangements for his Australia tour, including travel and accommodation. “I was really excited when Clarke said I had the potential to even make it to the Australian Big Bash League.”

Lamichhane earned praises, even was likened to Australian spin legend Shane Warne, after his performance in the.Lamichhane took 14 wickets in ICC U-19 World Cup held in January-February this year in Bangladesh. during the tournament, where he ended up as the second highest wicket-taker.

ICC likely to introduce two divisions in Test cricket

Kathmandu | The International Cricket Council (ICC) are planning to revive the aura and importance of Test cricket, which has taken a backseat to T20 cricket in the last few years. Richardson has hinted that countries like Nepal could get chance to feature in Test cricket as the global cricket governing body is planning to introduce two tiers of Test cricket by 2019.

As per reports of cricket news portal Cricinfo, ICC chief executive officer David Richardson has flouted a proposal forming a second tier test cricket as early as 2019 saying that the cricket governing body could unveil plans for the introduction of two divisions in Test cricket. If the plan comes into action, Associate nations will have a chance to sharpen their skills in the Test format of the game.

“There’s a general realisation now that, if we’re going to keep Test cricket going well into the future, we can’t just say it’s going to survive on its own,” Richardson said while speaking to promote the 2017 Champions Trophy. “Unless we can give some meaning to these series beyond the rankings and a trophy, then interest in Test cricket will continue to waiver. The same applies if we allow uncompetitive Test cricket to take place too often.”

The division one will have seven teams and the one below will have five. The teams will be placed in these two divisions based on their ICC Test rankings. Promotion and relegation will happen every two years. Richardson hoped that each qualifying Test series would consist of a minimum of three Tests, though he acknowledged that the growth of domestic T20 leagues might render that impractical.

During the polygraph tests, Police Inspector Ram Prasad Pandey of Pokhara-based Regional Police Office had asked Ashish: "Did you strangle Manisha to de@th?" In reply, Ashish said that he had not strangled her. Inspector Pandey had asked him eleven questions during the five-hour long polygraph tests. Blood samples, broken glasses and the black shawl used for hanging have been sent to Kathmandu for further tests. The reports including viscera report will also provide further clue to the investigation, according to the police.

Earlier during interrogation, Chaudhary said that he had taken a bottle of beer on the day of the incident. He had told the police that he had slept outside the house while Manisha slept in after the brawl.

Limbu, a the 12th grader at Lumbini College and a teacher at Kalopul-based school, met a group of boys via her three-month-long facebook friend Rajan Rai, 19, of Morang district.According to SSP Sarbendra Khanal, chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, the girl had accompanied Rai to Hard Rock Restaurant based in Thamel, but returned to an apartment near Bouddha Gate with Sunny Lama under the influence of alcohol. The owner of the apartment himself drove the couple to his flat and let them sleep in one room while he went to bed in another room, the police said.Sunny and Venisha had consensual s@x at the apartment. And then after a while, the absconding accused knocked on the door of the room where Venisha and Sunny were staying. The absconding man told Sunny to leave with the intention to rape Venisha that led to a minor verbal exchange with Sunny. Venisha entered the toilet after realising the absconding man's intention to rape her. After she refused to let him have sex, the man allegedly pushed her from the sixth floor of the building, said SSP Khanal.

Kathmandu: Bangladesh slumped to a one-run defeat by India at the World Twenty20 on Wednesday after a collapse by its lower-order batsmen in the final over of a gripping Group 2 match at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Defending a modest 146, India looked down and out for the better part of the match before pulling their acts together in the final two overs to restrict Bangladesh to 145 for 9. But Mushfiqur holed out to mid-wicket, the next ball saw Mahmudullah do the same and Shuvagata Hom missed the final ball and made a vain attempt to steal a single to level the scores.

It was a piece of inspirational act by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who took his right gloves off when Hardik Pandya came in to bowl the last delivery with two runs required. Pandya bowled a fuller delivery wide off Shuvagato Hom who missed it and Dhoni caught it with only his inners on.

Hazelwood hat trick ball against West Indies

Kathmandu : Australian Josh Hazelwood has clinched a hat-trick in the warm-up game against West Indies. It was not an official encounter so the hat-trick will not be counted, but still for the bowler, it was one enjoyable moment.

Hazelwood took the wicket of Jason Holder, Maron Samuels and Dwayne Bravo. Holder was trapped lbw by the tall fast bowler. It was a good length ball and Holder missed the shot completely and were in front of the stumps when the ball hit him on his pads.

Samuels was the next man gone. He was walking in a casual manner as he has always been seen but, this time, he lasted for just one ball.

This time, the ball had pace and Samuels clearly was not expecting this much pace from hazelwood.. the ball came in and went through the defenses of Samuels and he was clearly baffled with the pace, line and length on this one.

His castle was down and then bravo made the entry. For a hat-trick ball, Hazelwood needed a special ball and his third man was special. This one hit the perfect length area and went on. Bravo did try to cover the ball with his bat but Hazelwood was much better this time again.

Pakistan team to arrive in Kolkata tomorrow – Report

New Delhi: In the latest development to the long-drawn controversy pertaining to Pakistan's participation in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, the 2009 champions will reportedly leave for India on Friday.

According to a report in CNN-IBN, the Pakistan cricket team will travel via Lahore and Delhi, then to Kolkata tomorrow.

After prolonged political harangue from different parties on the hosting of the high-profile India-Pakistan match at Dharamsala, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday agreed to shift the venue to Kolkata.

For time being, it seemed to have resolved the issue, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kept the team's departure on hold awaiting an assurance from the Indian government.

"Both men and women teams (departure) have been deferred. I have also informed this to the government because it has asked for my opinion," PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said at a press conference yesterday.

His response came after ICC announced in New Delhi the relocation of Indo-Pak tie on March 19 from Dharamsala to Kolkata due to security reasons.

Stunning one handed catch by Oman cricketer Zeeshan Maqsood

Kathmandu : Zeeshan Maqsood of Oman has taken the best catch of World T20 so far. Though this game is a qualifier but still the man showed his energy and commitment and registers his magnificence in the field. It was referred to the third umpire for the final call.
